a (hopefully) final note on recent difficulties

Earlier tonight, I had written a post crying my woes as I moved into day four of my recent struggles with Blogger. I tried Flickr and Tumblr and all sorts of suggestions concerning Java and networks and malware, basically everything short of shamanic intervention, all with no luck. I was just about to throw my hands in the air and try reformatting my computer.

After I posted this missive, I tried one more time and wouldn't you know it, it worked fine and continues to do so. All I can hope for is that this smooth sailing maintains and the sargasso I found myself in over the last few days is now behind me.

In the process, however, I found myself in the midst of passing a kidney stone, which leaves me in moaning agony for hours at a time. Time when the pain had subsided was spent cursing at my computer. Hopefully, this too will pass and I can get on with my life. So, in the balance, posting will be sporadic and when I'm capable of any sort of clear and painless thought.

These last few days have been rough.

Oh, btw, I guess I have a Tumblr now. I'm not sure how I'm going to use it yet, but it's out there:

John -- Hope you're feeling better, or at least on the road to recovery.

Nice to see you on Twitter.

Hi Geoff, nice to hear from you again.

Hello there, Ms. Nag. It's a pleasure, as always.

Thanks.

The first kidney stone I had in '95 was over with in about 18 agonizing hours. This one is taking its time. About every 8-12 hours I have an episode. It doesn't seem to want to resolve.

It hurts bad. You can't lay down, sit down or stand up. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Soldiering on.

Congrats on becoming a Tumblr - I always thought what you were doing here at Blogspot was more like what we do over there... - visual, pithy, linky etc.

Best - i12bent

Remember: "This too shall pass" (sorry - couldn't resist!)

Thanks, Bent.

I'm really liking it over there, and I'm not having the same troubles.

I might gradually move away from Blogger exclusively to Tumblr. We'll see how it goes.

p.s. I thought you might have been mad at me over something I posted. Are we ok? I didn't mean to offend.

You bet - no offense taken at any point... Everything you post is cool, man!

Very cool. I'm glad and relieved.

Google & Blogger still giving me trouble, so Tumblr is looming large.

Good luck with the kidney stone. I've had two. No fun

Nothin's perfect. Tumblr's editor regularly makes me use excessive profanity...

Thanks, Guy. I had one back in '95. Sucks. Hopefully it will be better by this weekend, although I was still somewhat hurting for about a week after the last one.

Well, Bent, I guess we have to take the bad with the good. It can't be that much worse than what I have been going through! (I like it, so far.)

Thanks so very much, Ms. Maud.

Me likey Tumblr. It's nice, simple, elegant. It makes Blogger feel a bit klunky.
