Mapping the Human 'Diseasenome'









NY Times:

Researchers created a map linking different diseases, represented by circles, to the genes they have in common, represented by squares. Related Article: Redefining Disease, Genes and All

The Times graphic has a nice magnifying zoom feature and it's disturbingly comprehensive. I was a bit surprised at times to find that seemingly unrelated conditions were genetically linked. I found myself playing a sort of genetic "six degrees of separation" with it; Cataract to Holopresencephaly to Basil cell carcinoma = 2...
