Alisa Miller, head of Public Radio International, talks about why -- though we want to know more about the world than ever -- the US news media is actually showing less.
It might be worse now, but in my experience, the American media has always neglected world news. When I was younger I had to listen to the BBC World Service on shortwave to find out what was happening on the rest of the planet. (Yes, days in living memory when there was no internet or even widely available satellite or cable; just newspapers, magazine and four TV stations that went off the air around midnight.)
