I remember reading in the Times-Picayune once about a diver that was swallowed up to his waist by a catfish. He was welding on a ship in the Mississippi when the fish got him. Luckily he was tethered and it let him go after a brief struggle.
I've heard about catfish eating dogs.
I guess there's some big ones in the River.
